Shopping frenzy
Puja shopping is nearing the last lap. The frenzy of buyers shuttling from one place to another must be seen to believe. Come to Gariahat now after 11 in the morning. The chance is you’ll be squeezed like a polypack of jelly from all corners.
The going is somewhat okay till about 3 in the afternoon. From then on the rush is simply maddening, and the evenings are so crowded that you wonder why the hell you’ve come here in the first place.
The weathermen said in the paper today that rains are likely later in the day. Fortunately that hasn’t happened thus far. And today being the last Sunday before puja, it’s no surprise that people are arriving in droves to complete their buying.
