CU strives

LinkShare Referral PrgHad there been no pressure from UGC to conform to a uniform academic calendar, one doubts if CU would have bothered to change. It seems CU is striving to change not only because of UGC’s rider, but because the rider accompanies a dole of Rs.100 crore from the central government to spruce up overall standard of education. Same amount goes to both Madras University and Bombay University.

That this might happen looked a possibility when the CU appointed an expert committee to unearth as to what ails the famed university (see my post, Why not to study at CU).

The Statesman in today’s edition reports the following:
The teachers were given a specific time frame to evaluate the answer scripts and return them. Teachers of departments with less than 25 candidates must return scripts within seven days, for 50 candidates the number of allotted days is 10. Again for candidates between 50 and 100 the teachers will get 15 days. The teachers will get 30 days for departments with 200 examinees and for more than 300 students 50 days would be the allotted time for evaluation of scripts.
